How much is Crown Derby worth?

An insight into the Value of Royal Crown Derby

19/05/2023

As with any collectible, the value of Royal Crown Derby pieces varies greatly, hinging on several key factors such as age, condition, rarity, and pattern. For instance, older items from the 18th and early 19th centuries, particularly those of rare designs or in exceptional condition, are highly sought after by collectors and thus can command prices of five figures. Equally, limited edition pieces, or those from popular series, like the "Imari" patterns characterized by their distinctive cobalt blue, iron red, and lavish gilding, can be worth a considerable amount at auction.

Whilst Crown Derby are widely known for their tableware, one of their most popular lines with collectors is the Imari Animals series. Released in limited editions and retailed exclusively with vendors such as Goviers, collections of the animals can acheive strong prices at auction.

Additionally, numbered and limited edition peices such as their Gypsy Caravan series prove popular due to their intricate decoration and scarcity on the open market. As with most ceramics, however, condition does play a role in the value of a peice regardless of its rarity.
